BeatnikBrown is in post-production on its untitled, 5-song EP. The recording will include "Some People" and a reworking of "PhDs" from last fall's limited release, as well as three funky new originals for your listening pleasure.

Recording well underway!
BeatnikBrown's new album with Lasting Art Productions made some killer progress this week- JB's arm might not have been 100%, but his drum tracks definitely were! Drums are done, and he's off for some well-deserved rest to recoup before this month's Funk Revival. Next up- JD and JG tracking back at The Arts Garage to take advantage of some amazing room dynamics and general cool vibes of the space. See y'all soon..

Snow is white, Funk is Brown
The weather didn't cooperate with the January edition of BeatnikBrown's Funk Revival, but a big thanks goes to our PR team for getting the word out and props to audio genius Alan for lending his hand in plowing out the streets of a snowbound Illadelph in a huge Mack truck. Hopefully February will be a little less blizzardy.
In the meantime, it's studio time for BnB. Recording schedule is laid out, gear is scrounged, producer fired up and engineer ready to push that round red button.
In other news, BnB members have been keeping up their chops with some side projects. Jared G has been lending a hand on some bass tracks for Nonexistent Recordings and San Diego electronica DJ/Producer Anthony Ross, while Scotty Swindiculous has been spending some time on keys with one of our favorite bands, HotD.

BeatnikBrown is off and runnin' with Funk Revival at The Arts Garage on Jan. 26 with New Kings of Rhythm and Mojo Risin'. If you haven't checked out this venue, it's the bomb! Don't believe? Holidays with the 'Brown!
BeatnikBrown will be headlining at the Grape on Saturday, November 20, playing after three great bands. It's an all-night party on a Saturday, with BnB taking the stage at midnight.
Make sure you don't miss the 'Brown getting down at Club Risque on Friday, December 3... it's always a good time when you combine the funk of BnB with the women of Risque!
The band is excited to play right in the middle of two great acts, Jon DeLise and Da Rezarekt, for the Origivation Holiday Bash at Grape Street on December 16. Catch up with your friends and celebrate with the 'Brown, playing at 10:30. DJ Sat One spins upstairs... Just like the old days! See you there!

Fall Back with the 'Brown!
BeatnikBrown has a big week ahead. Friday, October 22nd, BnB plays at 11 p.m. at the Rox Box in Roxborough. We'll drop a funky set after the Tragics @ 9 p.m., and HOTD @ 10 p.m., before turning it over to Perineum @ 12. On Tuesday, October 26, we make our debut at Triumph Brewery, playing with our festival friends! The following night, Wednesday, October 27, marks the opening of our residency at the Arts Garage for BeatnikBrown's Funk Revival. We'll be showcasing some of the best local funk musicians every month, starting off with the New Kings of Rhythm and the Wide-Eyed Mother-Brothers! BeatnikBrown is amped up for the Fall! The band kicks off October playing at Mole Fest, to benefit Magee Rehabilitation Center. Things get started at 2 p.m. at 151 N Mole St, Philadelphia, PA, 19102. That night, we head to the Pennant East in Bellmawr, NJ, for our first time rocking this cool original music venue. The doors open at 8 p.m. Don't forget about October 22nd at the Rox Box in Manayunk. We'll drop a funky set with some super funky bands. Want to book BeatnikBrown for your establishment this fall?
